Word Finding + Thinking Together
Ghost writing is an honor. Whether a client is open about having a Wild + Brave writing team at their back, or my words go to live quietly under someone else’s name; helping someone express the wild ideas in their life is a privilege.
Maybe my nerd is showing… but I believe not having rich words for our experience means not richly living our experience. Finding the words helps us inhabit the present, savor the past, and engage the future. It changes what you are prepared to do with the days left in your life. Writing well, or communicating effectively is not just about advancing our careers or helping others past the gauntlets we’ve conquered. We need to find words in order to savor, metabolize, and embody our own lives.
For more than a decade as a full time thinking partner, I most often helped people find their words in coaching conversations. Working as a coach has taught me much about how we find our words. In recent years, I’ve begun to work as a wordfinder outside of coaching sessions, helping Wild + Brave humans write words that matter to them.
Sometimes I write funny email messages for clients; others I ask impertinent questions and take technicolor notes on my gang of white boards, pulling out the story of someone’s life until the lesson they have discovered emerges. Sometimes I help someone plan who they want to be on social media and sketch a way to live with authenticity in the digital platforms where anything goes and so little stands out. I work with non-fiction authors to help them organize their ideas and prepare them to reach the people who need (and are willing to pay for) them. I work with fiction writers to translate the creative product of their written world into a reader-oriented welcome that helps new fans find them.
In 2020 I experienced a sudden onset of a hearing disability called hyperacusis. The change has narrowed my brain’s bandwidth for normal sounds, giving me SUPER hearing. Learning how to live with chronic pain, heal the panic disorder my disability has caused, and build new friendships in a world that has become too loud for me has made me grateful I’ve spent my life wordfinding.
In 2023 I published Think Wild, a book built of twelve mental growth tactics I've used to engage life and navigate the challenges we all face to our ability to focus, enjoy life, and be fullfiled by what we do every day.
Think Wild
Mental Growth Tactics for Brave Humans
We all experience life through the windows of our minds. Feeling connected, inspired, and satisfied with life depends on how well we can see and capture the world using our mental faculties. Professional success and creative productivity demand that we see the world around us clearly yet imagine new ways to engage reality every day. How we think in this moment can set off cascades of courage, confidence, and authentic energy for life—especially when we Think Wild.
Learn twelve mental growth tactics to use the brain's innate functions to overcome anxiety and distraction, leverage stress for health and success, enjoy life, improve memory and wisdom, and get more done with confidence and flow. Written by a professional life and business coach, this tactical guide is engineered for action. Play with the ideas in this book. They will strengthen your mental muscles for engaging life’s joys and challenges with your most present, resilient self.
Wild + Brave Ambassador
As a Wild + Brave Ambassador, I get to travel and try new things with people! Untraining experiences, Wild + Brave Meetups, and virtual connection experiences are a few of the ways that my team and I maximize our time and stay in touch with the Wild + Brave Community across the globe!
Over the last year, we have truly transitioned to a virtual model that lets us coach, train, and speak virtually, as well as given us the freedom to travel to different events and trainings so that we can be on-site.
Wherever I am in the world...
Stay Connected, Wherever I Am
Wherever in the world I am, I stay in touch with my Wild + Brave friends by email. Even camping in the remotest of campsites in extra wild National Parks I can always wrangle the 30 seconds of connectivity it takes to email out some inspiration and share the Wild Idea I'm chewing on.
Sometimes I'm digesting new research from the science of Positive Psychology and turning it into a simple Challenge we can do in just 5 minutes. If you're in my Wild + Brave Inner Circle, I'll share these easy-to-use snippits of science with you.
I use some simple tech to make this possible even when I'm on the road, so help me out by joining my email list in this form. That way I can get an inspiring thought out to you from anywhere. (If you're an adventurer and you want help doing this too, book a spot in my Free Coaching calendar and we can have a virtual cup of coffee and share secrets.)

Finding Your Purpose for the Year
Figuring Out Your Purpose for the Year One of my favorite questions to ask friends this time of year is “what do you think next year is for?” To be fair, it’s a tough question to answer, rude of me to ask it. But just because it can feel like an impossible question to…
Selecting Your Next Goal
Selecting Next Year’s Goals As December arrives I always start interviewing new habits, goals, and skills to see what I will reach for in the new year. Some years I do it with angst, urgency, and desperation. Usually when that happens, I’m feeling behind, or worried that I’m not really getting anywhere in my life.…
Later Hunting
What We’ve Been Putting Off Even without pandemic pressures, “Laters” tend to pile up. Some laters are the usual… need to schedule the dentist, time to change the oil in the car, must get out to visit family members we haven’t seen in too long. But laters also include things like stopping at the farmer’s…
Don’t Let Your Year-End Review Get Heavy
I think it’s because reflection is so valuable that we often fail to do it. In our desperate need for fresh insights, new motivation, and a sense of accomplishment, the reflection process looms larger than life. And if asking questions about our recent past begins to feel heavy, we delay doing it until we can…
Go Get Your Silence
A Moment of Silence I had a second of silence this week. Lately my ears ring constantly, but for an instant, the roar of tinnitus blinked. It’s only happened twice in the last 358 days. But it wasn’t guaranteed to happen at all. The doctors don’t know why I’m suddenly super sensitive to sound, or…
Use Your Body To Clear Your Mind
A Body-First Approach to Responding to Stress This week I’ve been thinking about the mind/body connections of stress, anxiety, and negative emotions. When emotional triggers pop up in life, one of the most effective things we can do is to give ourselves space by interrupting our physical stress response. It’s nice when we can interrupt…
Use Your Body to Build a Resilient Mind
A Stress Reduction Technique from the Wild + Brave Coaching Archive This live coaching originally broadcast on June 11, 2020 and features Wild + Brave’s Coach Morgan Hendrix, and several Wild + Brave Humans (thank you to Johnna, Willian, and Anthony for contributing to the live conversation) who added their insights to the live coaching…
Defeat Distraction + Timewasters Using “Disinvestment”
Defeat Distraction + Time Wasting Using Disinvestment We all do things we know aren’t valuable. Whether we call them time wasters, downtime, or addictions; time we desperately need gets lost in predictable ways every week. My friends and I have noticed something called “phone time” has gobbled up our spare minutes. Things like scrolling…

4 Kinds of Coaches and When to Work With Them There are lots of coaches out there. So how do you know when you’re ready for a coach, and which kind of coach you need? Having been a professional coach for over a decade and having had many coaches over the years, here’s a lens…
Working Better, Not Less
12 Years of Working Better, Not Less I love being a coach. It means people ask me to help them do things that matter to them. Sometimes I help them get a book published, or repair a broken relationship, or discover what they actually want in life. Sometimes I help people break habits,…
